What is the Veteran Trees Initiative?

In 1996, English Nature (now part of Natural England) began a partnership project, called the Veteran Trees Initiative (VTI), with the aim of promoting the conservation of veteran trees wherever they occur.

As part of the project, English Nature commissioned a researcher, to pull together current experience and best practice in the management of old pollards and other veterans.

The result of this was the Veteran Trees handbook: a guide to good management, an invaluable guide to anyone who has an interest in or needs to manage old trees.

Ancient Tree Hunt

The Ancient Tree Hunt is a Woodland Trust campaign.
