Champion white poplar

TROBI declares this white poplar as the ATH's first champion find

11 October 2007

There is no greater accolade for a tree than recognition by the Tree Register of the British Isles that you are a champion.

This white poplar was discovered by one of the Volunteer Verifiers involved in supporting the Ancient Tree Hunt. Keith Burgoyne told us

"To think I have spent most of my life hugging trees and to have identified with the conformation from the ATH team this cracking specimen of a white poplar - I am over the moon for the project as well as for Scotland."

Keith continued "To think I would have possibly missed the find (especially with the ivy growth covering the lower section of the tree) if it wasn't for Bill the park foreman who pointed me in the right direction"

Keith has been kind enough to furnish this white Poplar's record with lots of wonderful images.
