Train the trainer

Getting local people helping you hunting out and recording ancient trees is a rewarding way to share your passion in securing their future. There is no better champion for a tree than its 'discoverer' - but we know that it takes time to gather a group of people together and how difficult it can be sharing your knowledge with others - so we have designed a resource pack to help you plan an event.

You can claim a free resource pack from the Ancient Tree Hunt team that includes a guide to preparing and running what we call Recording Events. Simply give us details of your event and we'll send a pack out to you.

The guide is packed full of top tips for finding the best ancient trees to inspire people, how to look for the right IT facilities to demonstrate to people how they can independently record trees as a part of the UK wide hunt and how to avoid the pit falls that come with running an event.

We have also provided a predesigned set of powerpoint presentations so that you can tell people all about the Ancient Tree Hunt and how you and your organisation are working with us to help to secure the future of ancient trees. Though this may sound techy, this simple powerpoint takes all of the research out of preparing to run a recording event and makes your life so much easier!

...and thats not all!

The resource pack is also furnished with an exclusive DVD featuring Ted Green - founder member of the Ancient Tree Forum and Jill Butler - Conservation Policy Officer for the Woodland Trust.

They visually demonstrate what is a veteran tree and what is an ancient tree and the best techniques for measuring them. They also give some great examples of how to spot a pollarded tree and a phoenix tree.

As a grand finale, they have recorded a personal message to you and your merry band of recorders as a thank you for your hunting and championing of ancient trees.

The resource pack is all wrapped up in a beautiful Ancient Tree Hunt custom designed folder and comes jam packed full of leaflets and hand out ideas for the day.

Contact us if you would like to receive a resource pack for running an event in your area.
