Acorns to Ancients in the North East
Here's a list of our favourite trees in the North East:
Tree 2227
, Tyne and Wear; Saltwell Park in Gateshead was opened in 1876 and is known as the ‘People’s Park’. Following a £10 million refurbishment the park has won many awards and is a perfect location to collect your seeds.
Tree 6821
, Durham; This beech tree is one of many found in Auckland Park, which is watched over by the magnificent castle. Residence to the Bishops of Durham for over 800 years, the park is a reminder of the open countryside where the bishops hunted for game.
Tree 3316
, North Yorkshire; Studley Park is home to many great examples of ancient trees including this oak. The Abbey and parkland have been documented for almost one thousand years, so you can take a piece of great historical significance and plant it in your own garden.
