Acorns to Ancients in Wales
Here's a selection of our favourite trees in Wales:
Tree 195
, Wrexham; The oak at 'THE GATE OF THE DEAD'. This tree is situated at a location called the 'Gate of the Dead'. It is a location where a great battle was fought between the Welsh and English armies. The field opposite this tree has never been ploughed since and is said to contain bodies from the battle.
Tree 3548
, Carmarthen; The Talley Abbey Ash can lay claim to being one of the largest ash trees in the whole of the country. The site itself has been recorded as far back as the 12th century, which gives you an idea of how old the tree may be.
