Wychwood Project

A project that combines history, conservation and local communities within the former Royal Forest of Wychwood.

In 1086 the Royal Forest of Wychwood covered much of what is now West Oxfordshire. The Wychwood Project was established in 1997 to raise awareness of the history and identity of the area and to work with local communities to restore its rich patchwork of landscapes and habitats within the Forest boundaries.

Holding key links with land owners within Oxfordshire, Wychwood have opened doors for the Ancient Tree Hunt to take part in the Country Land Owners Associaition annual fair and with other key land owners, encouraging favourable management of ancient trees and the recording of trees into the project web site.
