Forestry Commission England

Forestry Commission are the Government Department responsible for protecting, expanding and promoting the sustainable management of woodland and increasing their value to society and the environment.

To support the Ancient Tree Hunt the Forestry Commission have shared amazing inventories of important ancient trees with the project, such as 6000 ancient and veteran trees recorded at Savernake Forest.

A total of 9000 trees have been surveyed on Forestry Commission land and form part of the Ancient Tree Hunt data base. Additional surveying will take place until 2011 with the results developing further the partnership between the Ancient Tree Hunt and the Forestry Commission as we work together to secure the future of ancient trees.
