Veteran Tree Survey Training day, Croft Castle, Herefordshire, 11 Dec 2012 (NOW FULL)

Advanced Veteran Tree Survey Training day, 11 December 2012 at Croft Castle, Herefordshire

THIS EVENT IS NOW FULL (9/11/2012)

The Herefordshire Parklands Project is holding a training day in Advanced Veteran Tree surveying, on the 11th December at Croft Castle. The training will be given by Neville Fay, internationally recognised expert in veteran tree ecology, principal consultant and director of Treework Environmental Practice.

More details at http://www.herefordshirewt.org/parklands/surveys_training.html#Croft_Castle

The training day will cover:

  • Why are veteran / ancient trees important,
  • where are they found,
  • the British veteran tree heritage,
  • how trees become ancient & veteran, what’s the difference
  • advance tree survey methodology – what to look for and how to record it.

Weather permitting we will then go out onto the Croft Castle parkland to put this survey method and knowledge into practice on the fantastic veteran trees there.

This fascinating day is open to all volunteers - those who have been recording trees up until now but we would especially welcome volunteers who were unable to attend earlier training days as well. A buffet lunch and light refreshments are included.

There is a limit of 24 places on this training day. Please contact Lewis Goldwater at the Parklands Project if you wish to attend. http://www.herefordshirewt.org/parklands/contact.html
