Lobbying for change!

We have been meeting with MPs to look at ways of protecting the ancient trees which we are recording

The Woodland Trust, the Ancient Tree Forum and the Tree Council are lobbying hard for changes to tree protection within the Planning Bill which is currently going through Parliament. The three key areas which we are looking for amendments in are:

Change the penalty system and with it take away the exemptions for dead and dying and redefine 'dangerous' to make it less easy to use as a means of felling a tree
Establish a register of trees of special interest
Provide the opportunity for Conservation Area Section 211 notices to be used across England on trees above certain thresholds and for certain types of work
