The Ryedale District Council Ancient Trees Schools Project

A review of a local ancient tree project that took place this summer...

Ryedale District Council in Yorkshire is one of the Ancient Tree Hunt's local partners and over 10 days during June and July 2008 their Ancient Trees Schools Project took place, involving seven local schools.

Each day they worked with one class and children ranged in age from 6 – 11. The project aimed to raise awareness of the importance of ancient and veteran trees in Ryedale.

To read more about the project and see some photos, read an article by John Clayton, Tree & Landscape officer with Ryedale District Council.
