Trees monitored after development

The Shinfield Lodge pollard oak was surrounded by development back around 2006, but because of the work of Wokingham District Veteran Tree Association and the efforts of LPA officer Andy Glencross, it has survived the experience.

Shinfield Lodge pollard oak

Wokingham District Veteran Tree Association, which started life back in 2007, is perhaps the most active tree group in England.

They have recorded thousands of ancient, veteran and notable trees across their district and have branched out into all sorts of other tree activities.

The present state (good) of the Shinfield Lodge Oak came to light when they quizzed readers of their regular newsletter, if they could identify the tree.

Jill Butler remembered it from a visit to see it during construction. The tree looks like it is doing very nicely now.
