Recording more than one tree

Guidance from the Ancient Tree Hunt team for uploading large amounts of tree data

Are you a prolific recorder? Maybe you know about tree records sat with your local parish, tree officer or enthusist group that you think could help the Ancient Tree Hunt? Whatever your case may be, we know that when it comes to adding lots of trees to the web site the individual tree recording process can be time consuming.

The Ancient Tree Hunt can now offer you a different way to upload large numbers of trees to the website. Using our custom designed spreadsheets, you can add numerous trees in one go!

Be prepared

You will need to have the following to be able to use the mass upload system

  • Access to the software package Excel to be able to use the spreadsheets
  • Accurate grid references for all of your trees discovered of 8 digits minimum
  • Be registered with the Ancient Tree Hunt website so that the records can be allocated to you when they are uploaded
  • A sample of your records to send through to the team to look at so they can offer the best support

Once you have all of this in place, simply contact the Ancient Tree Hunt team to discuss the best approach for you. There are two options available:

  1. You would like your records to be uploaded UNVERIFIED and for our volunteers to check the records
  2. Your records have been professionally gathered and can be uploaded VERIFIED into the system by the Ancient Tree Hunt team

The team will then send out the guidance and the spreadsheet best for helping you add your records quickly and efficiently to the website.
